The activation algorithm
The mind of WorkAir is its sophisticated activation algorithm, which constantly analyzes the data from the sensors of the inertial platform incorporated into the electronics to detect when the expected accident conditions occur and send the activation signal. The WorkAir algorithm has already accumulated 2,000 hours of real-world testing in which it has demonstrated reliable behavior.
PPE certified
WorkAir is a highly innovative protection device, and current regulations do not provide certification procedures suitable for an advanced system. For this D-Air Lab turned to the Notified Body Dolomiti Cert which, in collaboration with the University of Padua, has developed a certification specification specifically designed for WorkAir. WorkAir has successfully faced the demanding series of tests that ended with the issue of the certification.
The Hardware
WorkAir hardware is designed in the name of reliability, which is why it uses quality components from well-known companies that are able to offer all the technical guarantees required for a PPE. Power is powered by a lithium-ion battery which guarantees a duration of 18 hours of continuous use and which can be recharged via the USB-C socket. The connection with the gas generators is guaranteed by an IP54 waterproof connector, while a LED indicates the status of the system to the user.
Usage scenarios
In the first case, WorkAir protects from a minimum height of 1.2 meters and can be worn over clothing normally used. In the second case (starting from 2m) it also protects the worker from hobbling against structures below the work surface and can be worn under the harness.
